Our Partners
GSSA is a non-profit association founded in 1996 at the National University of Rwanda in Butare. The main mission of GSSA is to become a new family for orphans of the Genocide. 14 years after 1994 Tutsi Genocide which claimed over one million lives, GSSA is creating a spirit of solidarity and partnership with other associations driven by the common burden of their past and providing a common support system for the future of Rwandas leaders.
GSSA has members in universities, higher learning institutions, and more than 70 secondary schools. GSSA membership numbers greater than 10,000 and also has a national coordination committee.
GSSA Works to:
- Gather and represent all Genocide survivor students that have requested to become member.
- Identify academic and social problems encountered by student Genocide survivors.
- Collect and forward necessary information on the welfare of students Genocide survivor and also on Genocide perpetrator in their respective regions.
- Promote the mutual, material and moral help among members.
- Collaborate with other people or associations (nationally and internationally) for the welfare of Genocide survivors.
- Build the memory of the Genocide, collect and conserve testimonies and any other information related to the Genocide.
- Fight against negativist idea and that the Genocide does not happen again in our country or elsewhere.
- Bury the rest of Genocide victims with respect.
